Summer to Fall Healthy Skin , hair, and body
Oh, how we are missing our sweet Summer already, but feeling completely rejuvenated by the past three months of beautiful sunshine, sun-kissed skin, and bouncy locks of salt- embraced hair. Although we feel nostalgic as we look back at pictures and memories of the sun briskly setting on the horizon, the scent of fresh Summer air with the windows down, we must not forget the unique energy this Summer has given us- but rather continue to utilize the Summer’s vitality and allow it to integrate itself into our daily lives as the new season of Fall- ‘the season of new beginnings’, commences.
Any earth + beach lover understands the immense struggle the end of summer brings. Especially because we never want to take off our Au-Ora bikinis! Not only must we continue to balance our lives as we transition seasons- but it is important to continue to integrate Summer habits into the Fall. Here are a few tips!
? Hot Yoga or Meditation: Summer is a perfect time for combining yogi practices. We must be sure to get our fill of constant meditation + sun salutations paired with restorative poses that are best for the health of our bodies.
Pair off a daily 20 minute meditation with a cool washcloth soaked in lavender water for maximum relaxation to get through the stress of transitioning seasons.
[ This can take place at home, outside, wherever you are most comfortable. Meditation allows us to tap into our inner-self and channel the energies we need to enjoy the heavy transitions in life, and to be both happy and healthy.]
Continue your yoga or meditation practice into the Fall which brings healthy opportunities for heart-opening during the months filled with holidays, new school + work endeavors before the Winter. At this time, try to make larger movements during your practice. (Backbends and shoulder-opening poses, recommended!)
? Embrace the beauty of the COCONUT! [ Coconut oil to be exact ]
Coconut oil can be utilized in vast holdings! If you are a beach-bum and still have the time catch a tan that will last through the Winter- pick up some natural coconut oil and apply it to the skin as it makes for the best possible tanning oil.
[Coconut oil is easily absorbed into the skin and the saturated fats of coconut oil help to cut down any extra damage that is taking place through sun exposure.]
Coconut oil has an all natural SPF and it stays glued to the skin after heavy swimming. Not only that, but coconut oil makes for a wonder skin & hair moisturizer- especially if your hair has been damaged from the Summer sun. Apply this oil to damaged ends or use as a conditioner- it will help to build back up those healthy long locks of hair!
[ Coconut oil is special as it is rich in carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals which are useful for the daily functions of our bodies. It has been used on hair and skin for thousands of years and has allowed people to keep their hair strong and nourished.]
Take advantage of the NUT and it will have you feeling like a Summer beach barbie all the way through until the Spring!
? Aloe Vera
Begin to integrate the all natural Aloe Vera leaf into your daily habits. Not only is aloe amazing for skin and blemishes, but it helps to regain the skin’s lithe- making this nature’s plant perfect for anti-aging. If you have spent a lot of time at the beach this Summer, try using an Aloe Vera face mask to boost you skin back to health.
AloeVera, Oatmeal and Avocado make for an excellent refreshing scrub, such as the scrub recipe posted on marijasmine.com. The ingredients for her recipe are half an avocado, 1 aloe vera leaf and 1/4 cup oats. Put the aloe vera, avocado & oats in a food processor and blend until it forms a smooth past. Apply the mask to a clean face and leave it on for anywhere from 15-30 minutes. Gently remove with warm water and a flannel, pat dry your face. -http://marijasmine.com/beauty/avocado-aloe-vera-oatmeal-glow-home-made-beauty-mask/
Aloe Vera also resonates well in your daily smoothies! By drinking aloe you can help to boost your body’s immunity, reduce high blood pressure, increase endurance, stabilize blood sugar, and most importantly- IT’S ANTI CANCEROUS! Try to add about 1/2 of fresh aloe peeled directly from the leaf into your smoothie.
[ Recommended Smoothie Recipe: coconut or almond milk, about 1 medium sized aloe leaf, raspberries, mangos, blueberries, mint and honey]
The time to change from cheeky bikinis to jeans and sweaters is upon us-but don’t let the season’s end steal your inner Summer sunshine!
